Deeply colored egg trays
Karak Star for Recycling manufactures egg trays and sells them to farmers who keep big hen houses for egg production. In the local Jordanian market, consumers prefer to buy eggs packaged in darkly colored trays. Perhaps this is because the white eggs contrast against a dark background and appear more enticing.
In this photo taken in May 2020 a Karak Star worker is adding blue dye to a vat of paper pulp early in the egg tray making process.
Blue dye is added to the paper pulp and mixed in vigorously.
